Project Overview
Bros On Base is a collaborative art project and character collection built on the Base blockchain, where artists contribute unique sets of avatars, and collectors vote on what becomes part of the world. The project blends structured visual systems with creative freedom, making space for dozens of distinct voices within a shared aesthetic universe.
As one of two Creative Leads, my role was to design the 2D base character, a clean, expressive outline that other artists can build on to develop their own sets. I also co-directed the visual identity of the project: helping define the colour palette, the project’s logo, art guidelines and communication materials that shaped how the project is understood and explored.
Unlike many PFP projects, Bros On Base isn’t bound to a single method of creation. Some artists choose to build generative sets, while others draw every character by hand. The result is a collection that balances structure with expressive freedom, making it one of the most artist-driven and intentionally curated projects on Base.
Concept & Structure
At its core, Bros On Base is about collective creation and creative ownership.
Artists submit sets of 54 characters using either the pixel or 2D base template. Community members use a “Burnable Bro” NFT to opt in to the sets they want to see minted. If a set reaches the threshold of support, it becomes part of the official collection – minted, rewarded, and added to the visual grid. Every approved set earns the artist 0.12Ξ, and becomes part of The Brotherhood.
The project framework ensures consistency and accessibility while leaving room for each contributor to inject their own voice, style, and ideas into the world.
Bonus for Opt-Ins
For every set that enters the opt-in phase, the artist also creates a limited edition artwork, airdropped to everyone who participated, regardless of whether the set gets minted.
